That's terrible. Your pain and experience is totally valid and you have a right to be heard. Shadeism and colorism in our community is not suppose to be apart of our culture. I won't apologize for them because I know they're coming from a place of thorns and glass fragments in their throats because of the way Dark Skinned women are treated on a regular basis, but I am super sorry that you've experienced pain in any shape or form and none of it really directed at you. It's based on some white supremacy bullshit we really need to break apart from.
yeah, I can see that side to...I have a boyfriend who is white and, uh...his family doesn't take to kindly to me...and his AND their thoughts about slavery are EXTREMELY questionable.=/...it makes me wonder sometimes...
hey I've been bullied, everytime i'm bullied , I get angry, I do have anger issues, and i'm not afraid of some one, they get up in my face and bust them open , the only I hate is getting in trouble, I tell the truth and the teacher never believes me, I hate bullying, and I always stand up for someone and me...
That's one of the things I hated about being in school. I really have a thing about teachers where I don't really trust any of them for that reason. Bullying is caused by when people do not stand up and speak out, especially when there are authorities around who do nothing about what's going on.
you're right...in my high school we have some teachers that are fucking lazy...and I wish I would punch someone out into next week, and they try snitch on me for cursing at them and gets away with it...
I like this (both the message and artwork). And like many on here, I've been/seen bullied and bullying. It's kinda hard to past on the "Stop Bullying" campaign when most can't tell the differences between friendly teasing or harassment. Also, I think that people who are the authorial figures are becoming more and more afar id of the bullies and/or they were the bullies and see nothing wrong with the acts and choose not to do anything (that and the "Stop Snitching") about it.
I remember that feeling. I was bullied all my life until I got out of school. Everyone said, "ignore it", like I was the problem. Yeah, right, like you can dot hat.
I'm way past that but I never forgot what it was like. I turned out tough and way better than any of the people in schools ever treated me- but that doesn't make it alright.
In highschool I got suspended for beating up a kid who bullied me for years. Why didn't anyone care when I said they harassed me? They wanted me to stand there and take it. No way, I got self respect. I'm not saying beat up your bully, but you can't let someone treat you like that- but most schools/adults don't help at all.
It's hard to get a thicker skin and think you're worth something after you've been bullied. Especially if you're a sensitive person. Some kids never grow up into confident adults because of it. It's a shame there has to be so much "bullying awareness" stuff. I mean, you can't hit the kids for tormenting you, but they can do whatever they want and send you home in tears. I think adults in positions in supervision need to remember what it's like and that it isn't "kid stuff". Hell, some adults never grow out of bullying, lol. I wonder if all the people who think it isn't a big deal are the ones who did the bullying.
Growing up is hard enough as it is. Who needs this kind of stuff? I'm glad someone made a drawing about it. It has a cute art style but the expressions really do match up with the feelings of the experience. I hope it touches someones heart.
This piece would be perfect for a new project we are developing -- an online gallery for artists who have been bullied or who explore the theme of bullying in their work. It's called the You Will Rise Project. Check it out here: [link] and let us know if you would be willing to share this piece on the site. Read the "Submit Your Work" section of the site for details. Thanks!
Yesterday my daughter told me that a girl at school is being bullied because her parents can't afford name brand clothes. Sometimes when I see this shit on the news it pisses me off. Really awesome artwork. Which one were you.
